Interview with Joe Michelini from RIVER CITY EXTENSION
Tom’s River, NJ octet River City Extension is a band you fall in love with. I did, and if you give them a chance, you probably will, too. During SXSW 2012, I booked the 8-piece group from my hometown of Syracuse, NY, confident that the venue I was dealing with would make every accommodation for traveling acts and out of state promoters. Ahem… Beware, and get a contract. Lesson learned.
Interview with REGENTS (ex-Frodus/Battery/Thursday/S.T.T)
Formed in 2007 and boasting members from some of the most recognizable bands in hardcore and punk music, DC/Philly/Alabama quartet Regents has put together a ruckus, cathartic sound that screams release. Featuring David NeSmith (Sleepytime Trio), Drew Ringo (Maximillian Colby), Jason Hamacher (Battery/Frodus), and Lukas Previn (Thursday), Regents are no strangers to the stage or the road, and they’re looking to bring their new sound to a place near you very soon.
Interview with Nick Forkel from Alaska’s Turbid North (@turbidnorth)
DIY or die! That seems to be as accurate a statement about Alaskan metal band Turbid North as one could muster. By booking all of your own tours and recording sessions, you have the most latitude in getting your fans a sincere product… One that hasn’t been trifled with by greedy executives looking to get an additional Mercedes for their garage. It’s a tough market, but in the end, you own the rights and roll your own dice.
New Shai Hulud Album to feature Chad Gilbert; Playing Rev 25 in NYC 10/13
An out of control lineup just got even better, as original singer and current New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert is once again back with Shai Hulud for their new album on Metal Blade Records. He’ll also be the singer for REV 25 in NYC next month… Nuts!
