Drummer Spotlight with Nick Jett from TERROR @terrorhardcore @victoryrecords @nickgodie
What do you call a drummer that breaks up with his girlfriend?
Homeless.
Drummers always get a bum rap. Why is that? Ever seen a good band with a shitty drummer? No. Know why? BECAUSE THEY DON’T FUCKING EXIST (with exception for The Beatles.)
Drummers rule! We hit stuff, get peoples’ butts shaking, and ultimately determine whether or not the band is going to perform well. You CANNOT have a solid band without a solid drummer, so all you 6-string wankers out there with your tapping and flooded solos can suck it… This one is for the hitters.
On February 27th, I sat down with Nick Jett from TERROR during their stop in Albany, NY at Bogies to talk about drum stuff (duh.) Check him and Terror out… These guys are no joke!
Interview with Mike Lock from BEYOND DISHONOR @beyonddishonor @beyondreese
Trenton, NJ’s Beyond Dishonor are a 5-piece playing some pretty brutal stuff, but they also seem to have quite a sense of humor about them. Their Facebook page looks like metalheads dream, with plenty of show announcements, links to some heavy jams, and all the while peppered with what looks to be some mighty fun gags.
Interview with Earl Maneein from Resolution15; Playing Bowery Ballroom tonight (3/16) @resolution15
New York City 4-piece Resolution15 play thrash inspired hardcore metal with a violin… THAT is frickin’ awesome! Seriously… Check THIS SHIT out! If you like metal and can’t get into that, I don’t know if there’s any hope for you, but I digress…
Interview with Peter Ewen from Polaris Rose; At @SXSW right now as a duo! @polarisrose
Los Angeles, California’s Polaris Rose currently in Austin, Texas for SXSW as a duo, and it looks like I have to block off some time to catch them perform. Upon my very first listen to “Chartreuse,” the opening cut off of their self-titled EP, I was immediately impressed when their indie-pop- soulful-swagger hit my headphones. Polaris Rose bring an easy, ear-pleasing listen for anyone looking to catch up with some worthy upstarts.
Interview with Seager Tennis from Mellow Bravo from Boston; Playing @sxsw this week! @mellowbravo
Boston, Massachusetts sextet Mellow Bravo are making their way to SXSW this week, along with just about every other band hellbent on making their mark in the music industry. Steeped in the Rock n Roll sound and attitude, Mellow Bravo’s spirited approach will suit anyone who wants some straight forward ragers nicely. Check out this great video for their track RIDIN’ and judge for yourself.
Introduced by another band, The Lights Out, who I spoke with here on Live High Five a little while ago, I caught up with bassist/vocalist Seager Tennis via FB Chat (of all places) and got the skinny on who Mellow Bravo is, what they’re doing, and where they’re playing in Austin during SXSW!
