Interview with Sandro Schiena from UK’s TURNPIKE GLOW, who’re making Indie Pop fun again! @thesyndotcom @turnpikeglow
London, England quartet Turnpike Glow are every indie-popper’s dream… Fun, bouncy, energy-laden tunes to rile up the audience and put a smile on your face. Catchy and infectious, Turnpike Glow already are what every band in Williamsburg band wishes they could be… Worthy of that solid 5.5 write up from those pretentious and never-happy-unless-it’s-Kanye types over at P’fork. Punch up, folks.
Great interview with Tommy Benedetti from John Brown’s Body; Playing #Syracuse, NY TONIGHT 1/18/13!!! @johnbrownsbody
You’d be hard pressed to find a current roots-reggae band with more drive, innovation, and straight up talent than Ithaca, NY’s John Brown’s Body. If you have ever been to one of their performances, you know what I’m talking about. If you call yourself a reggae fan and haven’t seen them yet, you should either hustle up and get to one, or drop the “fan” moniker from your self-description. These guys wail!
Aleister X new video for “LAX” dropped today; @Andrewwk knows how to pick ’em!
Here’s a new one from Aleister X, who is dropping a new record called Half-Speed Mastered on Steev Mike, Andrew WK’s label. As we will always support AWK and his endeavors, we wanted to bring this to you for a bit of evening entertainment. It’s pretty tripped out; Give a listen and let us know what you think! Thanks to NOISEY for continuing to be rad 🙂
ALEISTER X“LAX” VIDEO PREMIERE ON NOISEY!
HALF-SPEED MASTERED ALBUM OUT FEB.19th, 2013Noisey has the world video premiere for the song “LAX” by artist, Aleister X. Taking complete control in the director’s chair, the video depicts Hollywood’s voyeuristic excess as seen through the psychedelic and manic eyes of Aleister X. Layering live instrumentation, harmony vocals, and a dazzling array of skewed samples, the song’s sunshine-pop sound is infused with bouncy electronic beats and Aleister’s cockney tinged emceeing. The video’s combination of menace, glamour, humor, and absurdity welcomes the viewer deep into the Aleister X universe.

Interview with Dan Keller from GIANT PANDA GUERILLA DUB SQUAD; Playing Buffalo and Syracuse with @UmphreysMcGee this week!!! @giantpandadub
Rochester, NY’s Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad don’t seem to slow down, and who’d blame them? Hot off of two new, vastly different releases in 2012, Country and In These Times, fans of G.P.G.D.S. can’t seem to get enough of the jam/reggae band, and that is exactly what this talented quintet wants. Persistent, dedicated, and entertaining, PANDA! shows are flowing with positive energy and happy movement.
With a host of releases, several taped live recordings, and a spotlight on NPR, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad represents one of the best examples of the modern day reggae scene, in all its glory. Alongside other notable acts such as The Green, John Brown’s Body, and Tribal Seeds, G.P.G.D.S. captivates audiences wherever they play. It kind of gives me an idea for a touring new school reggae festival… Any takers?
