Interview with Michael Fleischmann from VISION OF DISORDER (@vod_band); Playing @ECTsunami THIS WEEKEND!
Being in a band for 20 years is no easy task. Any act that manages to stay together this long will undoubtedly deal with hard times, fucked up situations with the music business, and ultimately question their ability and influence within a drastically flooded marketplace. The key things to remember in these circumstances are the bonds you have with your fellow musicians, and the magic you can make together if you remember why you got involved with music to begin with. Music is a curious art form and a vehicle for self-expression that can change with time, but don’t tell that to one-hit wonder lovers.
*Full Band* Interview with Halifax’s KESTRELS
Kestrels are an alternative rock trio from Halifax, Nova Scotia, seemingly removed from the decade that birthed them. In a wash of 90’s nostalgia and grungy guitar gurgles, the band reminds me of many of garage rock’s finer points, which will delight hipsters and fans of melodic and noisy yet easily digestible amalgamations of indie alt-rock.

Interview with Collin McLoughlin; Auditioned for “The Voice” last night!
How about one for the ladies this time, huh? Pop music is the lifeblood of the music industry, and seemingly always has been. There are so many artists and groups striving for mainstream success that we often find ourselves inundated with a barrage of similar sounding, similar dressing, vain glorious divas (guys and girls) who think they have what it takes to conquer Billboard magazine. Most won’t, try as they might. But for the fans that like their pop sensibility with a strong dose of drive, ambition, and talent, be thankful you have cats like Collin McLoughlin out here making a go of it.
Interview with REGENTS (ex-Frodus/Battery/Thursday/S.T.T)
Formed in 2007 and boasting members from some of the most recognizable bands in hardcore and punk music, DC/Philly/Alabama quartet Regents has put together a ruckus, cathartic sound that screams release. Featuring David NeSmith (Sleepytime Trio), Drew Ringo (Maximillian Colby), Jason Hamacher (Battery/Frodus), and Lukas Previn (Thursday), Regents are no strangers to the stage or the road, and they’re looking to bring their new sound to a place near you very soon.
