Interview with Wesley Powell from BELIEVERS; New EP out NOW!
Believers are a 5-piece indie band hailing from Columbia, MO, and the first song on their new self-titled EP release features flowing water during the open. This nature theme runs through the remaining 5 songs, and everything about that band seems to be rooted in a very natural, flowing, atmospheric vibe. It’s great to listen to when you’re writing up interview for bands you just heard about. But seriously, it’s also very good, and should have fans of mellow indie-rock tapping their toes.
Interview with Eric Rachmany from REBELUTION; Playing Syracuse, NY TONIGHT (10/10)!!!
Jamaican feel and West Coast flow: That’s about as good of a description as you’re going to get for a band like Rebelution. With a host of accolades under their belt, this Santa Barbara quintet is currently at the forefront of the modern day reggae movement. Inspiring many like-minded new school Jamaican groove bands, Rebelution has worked very hard to bring their unique brand of freshly ripened jams to the masses.
Interview with Ronnie Ragona from SPRING HEELED JACK; Playing SKALAPALOOZA in select cities!
New Haven, Connecticut’s Spring Heeled Jack USA was a frontrunner of the East Coast Ska Scene during their tenure as a group. Existing from 1991-2001, the septet helped and encouraged the burgeoning Third Wave Ska movement, and made Connecticut’s scene one of the most active and vibrant in the nation. Several members of the third wave group went on to perform with other high profile acts including The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Less Than Jake, and Reel Big Fish among others, true to their Ska roots to this very day. The untimely passing of original drummer Dave Karcich, as well as the difficult and tumultuous world of music business, ultimately led to the group disbanding as of 2002, but the group’s legacy lives on.
Interview with Jared Cole from SURRENDER THE FALL (@sftband); Playing Albany 10/14 and Buffalo 10/17
Memphis, Tennessee’s Surrender The Fall is a band for folks who dig rock anthems. Formed to 2005, STF’s is no stranger to the stage, performing all over the southeast before catching a solid break to showcase for Mr. Luis Bacardi (yea, the guy with the rum) and his entertainment arm. Needless to say, it seems to have worked out in their favor!
Interview with Tony “Chubby Fresh” Pines (@chubbzbs) from ONE LIFE CREW; Played @ECTSUNAMI Fest
Hardcore music and hardcore scenes across the world use aggressive music to discuss difficult, often polarizing topics. As many followers and enthusiasts will tell you, hardcore is a way of life, not merely a genre of music or an aesthetic styling to be consumed. This notion is in large part thanks to Hot Topic and media outlets looking to cash in, but don’t go blaming the suits. Blame the sheep. The floor is open for debate.
