Rochester, NY’s Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad don’t seem to slow down, and who’d blame them? Hot off of two new, vastly different releases in 2012, Country and In These Times, fans of G.P.G.D.S. can’t seem to get enough of the jam/reggae band, and that is exactly what this talented quintet wants. Persistent, dedicated, and entertaining, PANDA! shows are flowing with positive energy and happy movement.

With a host of releases, several taped live recordings, and a spotlight on NPR, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad represents one of the best examples of the modern day reggae scene, in all its glory. Alongside other notable acts such as The Green, John Brown’s Body, and Tribal Seeds, G.P.G.D.S. captivates audiences wherever they play. It kind of gives me an idea for a touring new school reggae festival… Any takers?

Formed in 2006, Boston, Massachusetts thrash/death metal band Revocation are continuing to whip up a storm of metallic intensity, much to the delight of tech-metal solo enthusiasts and fans of whirlwind tempos. I’m sold… Sign me up!

Currently touring in support of their 2011 release Chaos Of Forms, on Relapse Records, as well as Teratogenesis, presented by Scion AV, the now 4-piece group is just finished out The Deconsecrate The Nation Tour with The Haarp Machine and The Faceless, which made its way to Syracuse on a Wednesday night. How’s that for a little mid-week mayhem?!

Black Sabbath announce new album; Bill Ward nowhere to be found.

Aging metal-gods Black Sabbath have announced plans to release a new album in 2013, but without Bill Ward, which makes us both sad and enraged. Don’t drummers take enough of a beating as it is (womp)? Give the man his share and let’s get the lineup back to original while we still can!!

Press Release:

BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND (January 13, 2013)–Today, the 13th of January 2013, rock legends BLACK SABBATH have announced the title of their new album, 13, which will be released this June (exact date TBA). The original BLACK SABBATH–OZZY OSBOURNE (vocals), TONY IOMMI (guitar) and GEEZER BUTLER (bass)–have recorded the album primarily in Los Angeles and were joined at the sessions by drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against The Machine). Produced by Rick Rubin (seven-time Grammy winner, two of those as Producer of the Year), the album will be released on Vertigo (worldwide) and Vertigo/Republic in the U.S. 13 marks the Grammy-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ return to Vertigo, the band’s original label; it’s the group’s first studio album together since 1978’s Never Say Die! They have sold over 70 million albums together.

In advance of the album’s release, BLACK SABBATH will head to New Zealand, Australia and Japan for live performances (see below for tour dates). Additional tour plans will be revealed in the coming months.
