Let’s it be said that when tragedy strikes, the first people who often come to the rescue are medical personnel, law enforcement, and musicians. And my lord, look at this lineup!!!
Taking place on January 2, 2013 at The Paramount in Asbury Park, NJ, some of the finest artists (and people) have organized an absolutely stunning lineup of music to aid in relief efforts caused by Hurricane Sandy. My Morning Jacket, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Nicole Atkins, Joseph Arthur, River City Extension, Tangiers Blues Band, and most likely a spectacular choice of special guests will be giving back to NJ. And it’s hosted by Matt Pinfield… That guy is awesome!
Help your fellow man, go enjoy some incredible tunes, and show your support. Imagine it happened to you… What would you want done to remedy the situation?
Tom’s River, NJ octet River City Extension is a band you fall in love with. I did, and if you give them a chance, you probably will, too. During SXSW 2012, I booked the 8-piece group from my hometown of Syracuse, NY, confident that the venue I was dealing with would make every accommodation for traveling acts and out of state promoters. Ahem… Beware, and get a contract. Lesson learned.
