Show Review for Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival 8/1/12 – Darien Lake

This year’s installment of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival made its way at Buffalo, NY’s Darien Lake this year, and metal heads of all ages made their way from rollercoaster to moshpit on a warm, comfortable day. Buffalo will probably get buried in a few feet of snow come September, so it was nice to have a good day to celebrate a 4-way metal legend extravaganza! The lineup, consisting of Anthrax, Motorhead, Slayer, and Slipknot, made no bones about what the day was going to bring forth. Stripped down from the full tour lineup, it was basically a “Headliners Only” showcase. It would’ve been cool to see the entire package in a day, but I was happy to only catch the cream. Read More…

Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper played Darien Lake Performing Arts Center on 7/16/12

A sea of men in black t-shirts, enough beer to float a cruise liner, and more highly hung devil horns than you can count could only mean one thing… A metal concert is brewing. But it wasn’t just any concert, for Iron Maiden, the mightiest of the mighty when discussing British Metal bands, tore through Darien Lake on their 25th anniversary tour this past Monday. Fathers and sons, husbands and wives, and all manner of metalheads flooded the gates and parking lots of the performing arts center, ready for a strong dose of riffage and percussive pummeling. If it weren’t for the endless shards of broken glass on the grounds from prior events (clean that shit up already), I’d have to say that this was the best way to spend a Monday in history.

Randy Blythe remains in a Czech jail cell for no reason.

From Adrenaline PR a few moments ago:

July 6, 2012

First of all, thanks to everyone who has reached out in support of Randy and each of us in this terrible situation.  It’s noted and very much appreciated.

We have been keeping our heads down and not speaking out due to the fluid nature of the situation and the constantly changing information that even we receive daily.

Within an hour things can do endless 180’s. It’s maddening to try and make heads or tails.

We’re taking the time to speak to you as it has been a significant period of time since this situation began and while nothing is immediately clear to any of us, we are not trying to keep anyone in the dark.

We have reached out and are making use of the resources we have acquired to help our brother who is still detained in Czech jail.

In the two years since, we were never notified of anything related to this incident.

Randy is our brother and we assure you, we are all staying very positive for him, working endlessly behind the scenes to provide any and all assistance possible.

The best we can do is to stay positive and continue to support our friend that we know is innocent.

We know that justice will prevail and we will continue to do our part to support our friend

Thick As Blood “Living Proof” Album Review

Florida hardcore group, Thick as Blood, is back with their third release, “Living Proof,” since their sophomore effort, “Embrace,” in 2009.

11 tracks of high octane material in under 30 minutes is impressive. First impressions of the overall work: the performance execution is done well, (they all know how to do what they do and sound tight doing it) and the combined lyrics and intense pounding would make any gym goer push that much harder past their last rep.

Randy Blythe UPDATE

For Immediate Release

June 29, 2012

LAMB OF GOD management will be issuing an official statement on Monday regarding the charges made against singer Randy Blythe. As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos.

Having said that, management wished to address today one false piece of information that has been included in many of the news stories released so far. Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.

Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts needed to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate.
