Well, Metallica has done it. ORION MUSIC FEST, taking place in Detroit, Michigan June 8-9th, has unveiled, hands down, probably the most thorough lineup of kick-ass we’ve seen this year. Not that anyone else has been slouching or anything, but nothing is quite as “must-attend” for us at Live High Five as this one.
If Metallica plays “And Justice For All…” in its entirety this year, we could die happy. Umm, we’ll see you in the D! Full lineup below.

New England Metal and Hardcore Fest 4/19-21 in Mass.; They forgot Meshuggah, but that’s about it.

So, if you like heavy music and haven’t had any good reason to visit Massachusetts lately, see above. The 15th Annual (!!!) New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will be at The Palladium in Worcester, Ma. from April 19th through the 21st, and for fuck’s sake… Someone’s been working time-and-a-half-overtime-plus on this one.

Anthrax, Opeth, Suicidal Tendencies, Hatebreed, Dillinger Escape Plan, Exodus, and an undercard that’ll give all those bands a run for their money. Looks like a “Must” to me.

Kudos to whoever put this together!

We’re all people and everything, but as products of our physical surroundings, we undoubtedly feel a slight shock when taken out of our comfort zones and thrust ourselves into new situations and atmospheres. Thankfully for me, Toronto has itself quite a metal scene and this year’s offering of HEAVY T.O. and HEAVY MTL, taking place in (you guessed it) Toronto and Montreal, saw thousands of black clad, heavily tattooed and pierced crunch lovers packing vacant fields to get their fill of breakdowns, screams, and solos from some of modern metal’s most significant artists. When you pack System Of A Down, Slipknot, Deftones, Marilyn Manson, and Suicidal Tendencies onto the same bill, it’s gonna be a good time, and I felt right at home.
