Show Review for @DEFTONES and THE CONTORTIONIST @tcband – 3/4/13 – Main Street Armory

165970-deftones-group-have-reunited-with-producer-nick-raskulinecz

Ok, let me start off by saying that 1) Deftones are an AMAZING band with incredible output, stage presence, and longevity and 2) The Contortionist are also a sick group of diverse musical influences and provided a good fit to open up the show. Great lineup, with a few nit-picky smatterings of 1st person truth. Good, Bad, and Ugly style… Go!

Dave Lombardo fired from Slayer’s Australian Tour?! *UPDATED

In yet another example of drummers being given the almighty shaft, it now appears Dave Lombardo has been axed from Slayer’s Australian Tour. Music Feeds reports that there was an issue with the business side of things (go figure) and instead of coming to an agreement, Dave was replaced.

Dave Lombardo is a legend…. One of the most successful and talented drummers to ever enter the metal circuit, and this sounds like yet another fine example of the music business fucking over the talent. Read more about it below.

http://musicfeeds.com.au/news/slayer-drummer-dave-lombardo-fired-from-australian-tour/

UPDATE: Slayer has issue a retort.

“Slayer confirms that Jon Dette will drum for the band on its Australian tour that starts this Saturday, February 23 in Brisbane. As regards Dave Lombardo’s Facebook post, Slayer does not agree with Mr. Lombardo’s substance or the timeline of the events, except to acknowledge that Mr. Lombardo came to the band less than a week before their scheduled departure for Australia to present an entirely new set of terms for his engagement that were contrary to those that had been previously agreed upon.

“The band was unable to reach an agreement on these new demands in the short amount of time available prior to leaving for Australia. There is more to the account than what Mr. Lombardo has offered, but out of respect to him, Slayer will not be commenting further. Slayer is grateful to its Australian fans for their understanding of this unfortunate last-minute change, and very much looks forward to seeing them at these shows.”
