Los Angeles, California’s Polaris Rose currently in Austin, Texas for SXSW as a duo, and it looks like I have to block off some time to catch them perform. Upon my very first listen to “Chartreuse,” the opening cut off of their self-titled EP, I was immediately impressed when their indie-pop- soulful-swagger hit my headphones. Polaris Rose bring an easy, ear-pleasing listen for anyone looking to catch up with some worthy upstarts.
Boston, Massachusetts sextet Mellow Bravo are making their way to SXSW this week, along with just about every other band hellbent on making their mark in the music industry. Steeped in the Rock n Roll sound and attitude, Mellow Bravo’s spirited approach will suit anyone who wants some straight forward ragers nicely. Check out this great video for their track RIDIN’ and judge for yourself.
Introduced by another band, The Lights Out, who I spoke with here on Live High Five a little while ago, I caught up with bassist/vocalist Seager Tennis via FB Chat (of all places) and got the skinny on who Mellow Bravo is, what they’re doing, and where they’re playing in Austin during SXSW!
Interview with Ben and Joe from The Venetia Fair; Playing @sxsw and new album out NOW! @thevenetiafair
Oh boy… I’ve been here before. Boston, Massachusetts 5-piece The Venetia Fair’s social media reads “Hanging out with us is probably more aggravating than anything else, but I think we’re all best friends. If we actually were 12 years old, we’d be in a secret club and have an awesome fort.” Sometimes you just know you’re in for an experience.
