Aleister X new video for “LAX” dropped today; @Andrewwk knows how to pick ’em!

Here’s a new one from Aleister X, who is dropping a new record called Half-Speed Mastered on Steev Mike, Andrew WK’s label. As we will always support AWK and his endeavors, we wanted to bring this to you for a bit of evening entertainment. It’s pretty tripped out; Give a listen and let us know what you think! ALEISTER X“LAX” VIDEO PREMIERE ON NOISEY!HALF-SPEED MASTERED ALBUM OUT FEB.19th, 2013Noisey has the world video premiere for the song “LAX” by artist, Aleister X. Taking complete control in the director’s chair, the video depicts Hollywood’s voyeuristic excess as seen through the psychedelic and manic eyes of Aleister X. Layering live instrumentation, harmony vocals, and a dazzling array of skewed samples, the song’s sunshine-pop sound is infused with bouncy electronic beats and Aleister’s cockney tinged emceeing. The video’s combination of menace, glamour, humor, and absurdity welcomes the viewer deep into the Aleister X universe.

“LAX” will appear on the forthcoming full-length album, Half-Speed Mastered, to drop February 19^th, 2013 via Andrew W.K.’s own Steev Mike label. W.K., who has previously released and co-produced two of Aleister X’s EP’s proclaims of his talents, “he’s absolutely one of the greatest lyricists and melody makers I’ve ever encountered. He’s a visionary artist who has built a complete world of madness.” 

With song titles such as “Malibu,” “California Gurls,” “Topanga Strangla,” and the forementioned “LAX”, Half-Speed Mastered is an album with a highly-conceptual theme. Speaking on that theme Aleister X says, “It’s meant to be a contemporary L.A. noir love affair. I love the Hollywood, dark-side-of- Tinseltown vibe, as well as the iconic images of bungalows, canyon houses, swimming pools and cars, weirdos, the “Boogie Nights” to “Bang Bus”-era porn industry, and Rad Culture – surfing, skateboarding, beach culture, punk, surf rock, stoner rock, west coast rap, rock and psychedelia; all the cool Southern California shit.”
