Interview with Joshua Waters Rudge from THE SKINTS (@theskints); Someone bring them to America already!!!
The Skints need to come to America, like yesterday. Representing East London Reggae, this UK quartet’s brilliant mix of ska, dub, reggae, hip hop, and punk is possibly the best thing I’ve heard come out of the current wave of the underground in a long time, and we needed it. If you need even an ounce of proof, watch this video for “Ratatat.” Go ahead… We’ll be here when you’re done.
After a LONG wait, SKALAPALOOZA begins this in at World Cafe in Philly. It hits the 9:30 Club in DC tomorrow, and then up to NYC to rock Gramercy Theater! Incredible lineup of talent, great people, and fun times!
This is going to be so much fun!!! Come out if you are in the area, or take the weekend off and rage with us!
Let’s give some love to our friends from the north, ehh? I’ll be the first to admit that most of my personal musical experience is centralized in the United States, but our Canadian neighbors are certainly no slouches in the music department. If there is any justice in the world, Rush will be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Billy Talent will come pay us a visit soon.
What’s up everyone? CMJ 2012 has begun, and you know what that means… Lots of music, little sleep, and a lot more music. Check out www.cmj.com for the info and scheduling.
And if anyone has access to an additional badge, hit us up at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help out. We’ll shout and retweet our praises to you all marathon long!
Enjoy the shows and check out something you might not otherwise… You may find yourself a new favorite!
Brooklyn, NY noise-pop group Oberhofer is only 3 years old, but they’ve achieved a great deal of success to brag about in that short period of time. Signed to the (brilliantly run) Glassnote Records label, the indie-rock quintet has also had stints on White Iris Records, slots opening for Neon Indian and Sleigh Bells, has performed at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Late Night with David Letterman, and will be heading to Austin City Limits later this month. Ambitious much? Jeez!
