A bunch of you will undoubtedly be heading into The Big Apple at the end of the month to catch Phish’s (annual?) run at Madison Square Garden. Depending on how much energy you have after the show (chemically induced or otherwise,) we all know NYC has quite a bit to choose from by way of entertainment, but these take the cake. Scroll down for deets, and have a fun, safe run!

B.B. Kings Blues Club with The Heavy Pets, Kung Fu & Dopapod.

During Phish’s annual MSG New Year’s Eve run there are two great after parties at B.B. Kings Blues Club. On Sunday, December 29th arguably the Northeast’s two most up-and-coming, improvisational ridden bands on the scene today, Dopapod and Kung Fu will be joining forces. No strangers to sharing the stage, members from both bands have been known to regularly sit-in with each other. At the beginning of the year, the two groups packed Highline Ballroom and it concluded in a huge super jam. Video of that performance can be viewed here:

The following night, Monday, December 30th, The Heavy Pets take over the same venue along with Dead Sessions. Riding high on their most recent studio effort, the A/B single Two Horses, with the synth-infused dance track “Keep Me Running” that can be heard regularly on Sirius/XM’s JamOn, the five-piece will showcase their unique blend of rhythm and blues, jazz-funk, nu-disco and reggae fusion mixed with rock & roll.
